Portions of the P.A.T.H. at UBC relating to Missions and Outreach: Serving Local-Sending Global

We have a plan here at Uniontown to help our people accomplish life change. We show them the path to life-change and help them walk on it. The way we illustrate the life change that needs to occur in our lives is the P.A.T.H. of Life. Path is a word that occurs over a hundred times in the Bible. 5 different times we are challenged to walk the path of life.

Touching the Lives of Others Through Serving in Ministry

While we are on the P.A.T.H., we quickly notice that there are others around us trying to reach the same goal of intimacy with God. We see that we are not alone. We are a part of a church body, a club of pathwalkers if you will, that is travelling this path together. Praise the Lord that He watches over our path (Job 13:27; 33:11), but we also need each other. As we use our God-given gifts to serve the church body, the entire church is built up and each of us is less likely to be blown off the P.A.T.H. of Life (Ephesians 4:14). Paul says this in 2 Corinthians 6:3 We put no stumbling block in anyone’s path, so that our ministry will not be discredited.

The purpose of our ministry is not to block someone’s path, but to open it up. That’s why we believe every member needs to be in ministry in order to walk the P.A.T.H. of Life. We offer many different ministries to get involved in, spiritual gifts classes to help our people know their gifts, ministry training, ministry teams, and leaders who make it their goal to develop the character and gifts of those serving with them. Someone who is Touching the lives of others through serving in ministry might be participating in one or more of the Local Outreach.

Helping Others Get on the P.A.T.H

…through Missions and Stay on the P.A.T.H. through Mentoring And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in. (KJV). Isn’t that a wonderful picture – a restorer of paths? The question for you and for me is this – whose path will we help restore? Could there be any greater calling on earth? Someone who is Helping others walk the P.A.T.H. by serving in Local Missions.

Clearly, as we have said earlier, not everyone is on the P.A.T.H. Jesus made that plain in Matthew 7:13 Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.” The word ‘road’ there is also translated ‘path’ in other places in the New Testament (Acts 2:28). Our job as believers is to introduce nonbelievers to Jesus so they may place their faith in him and join us on the P.A.T.H. of Life. That is called missions and our call from God is to be involved personally in bringing people to the P.A.T.H., starting in our own backyards and extending our efforts to the uttermost parts of the earth. But our goal does not end with new converts. We are called by God to personally disciple or mentor these new ‘pathwalkers’ so they can become fully devoted followers of Jesus. No matter how much you know, there is someone who knows less. Your job and mine is to befriend these people and make it our goal to disciple them to maturity.
